To the family of the late Jack "Speedy" Monaghan, our sincerest condolences from the family of the late Julian Kwasnicki. We were neighbours across the street from Jack and Richard and their parents on Ford Blvd. I would go over and watch Jack work on his old dirt track cars from the 30's and 40's as a young boy. Sometimes he'd have a few trophies in the back of the car, and it would set my brother and I to dreaming about the thrill of racing cars someday too. I never did do that, but as I grew older I would read all the race results from Checker Flag every week in the Star, and it made me proud to have known Jack and read about all his success, a true local legend from Riverside. I grew up watching SPEEDY. My Dad Cecil Lambier was his friend. Such a Great man . Jack was. We were all so excited to get to the track every week. SPEEDY was Loved by many and will be missed by All. R.I.P.

Condolences to the Monaghan family. I had the privilege to race against Jack for several years both on dirt and asphalt. I always had the utmost respect for Jack as a competitor and also considered him a friend. My family also did business with Jack through Hallmark Memorial and he was always thoughtful and helpful. Jack will be certainly missed.

First off, I’d like to send my condolences to all his family and friends on their loss. He was a true legend in racing…. Some of my best memories as a young boy were going to Checker Flag with my Dad and watching “Speedy” Monaghan battlethe likes of Don Mallatt and Bob Merrifield etc, and then going in the pits after the races to meet our idols. My sincere condolences to all of Jack’s family and friends. I have so many fond memories; hanging around with Speedy Jack and my father in my youth, “orange juice” on the patio the morning after a race, and visits over the years including our trip to Daytona together in memory of my father. Jack was one of the most jovial and positive individuals i have ever met. His laughter was contagious, everybody felt uplifted by his presence. He and Nan always supported my family and I with love and caring that i will cherish. I will remember him with the highest regard forever.

Jack "Speedy" Monaghan was my hero. He made quite the impression on my two year old self, and continued to do so throughout my life. Jack leaves an unforgettable legacy of speed, and class. He helped my wife Janet & I become the photographers for Checker Flag Speedway when we were 17. We have so many awesome memories on the track and off that will always bring us a smile. He will sure be missed but never forgotten.

I would on behalf of myself Linda Laframboise, and my family, our condolences to Jack's family and friends. My parents use to have Jack and some of the other drivers and their wives and a few of the neighbors come to our house when we lived on Clemenceau after the races, and they'd be having an after party. And the pic of the car is Jack's from back in the 70s as my mom took the picture I found it among my mom's pictures.
