Passed away peacefully on September 17, 2022 at the age of 86. Beloved wife of John for 66 years. Predeceased by her parents Henry and Alice Knapper. Dearest mother of Alice Oliver (Larry), David (Joy), Jacob, John (Helen) and Emma-Jean Deslippe (Chuck). Dearest oma of Liesje, Tina, Deanna, Jennifer, Jannisse, Daniel, Donovan, Danja, Leah, Janeva and Alysha. Proud great oma to seven adorable great grandchildren. Dear sister of Henry (late Carol) Knapper and Ada (late Phil) Tamminga. Dear sister in law of Joan (late Bert) Knapper, Elaine (late Paul) Knapper and Marg (late Gerry) Den Hartogh. Predeceased by Emma Knapper, Engel and Ann Knapper, Joe and Jenny Knapper, Aletta and Al Fendrick, Grace and Bev Carson, Pat and Frank Vanden Ham. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Tena was born and raised in Windsor but happily joined the rural life of Harrow-Colchester South. Mastering the art of all things farm, she enjoyed her gardens and her tractor excursions into the fields and to the Co-op. Having time to spare she would can fruits and vegetables, whip up numerous peach and apple pies, hem numerous pants and even sew a few wedding attires. While Tena enjoyed listening to opera she really appreciated gospel music and would frequent a few concerts during her visits to Florida. Tena was a lifelong member of the Christian Reformed Church in Essex and would volunteer her time and talents to the many functions and events that a community church offered. Tena will be dearly missed by her family and her many friends. Her family would like to thank the staff of VON, the Bayshore Group and to the comforting experience offered by Hospice Windsor & Essex County. A special thank you to everyone for all your prayers and support. Visitation at Gerald A. Smith Funeral Home 197 King St. W. Harrow. Wednesday September 21, 2022 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.. Visitation will continue at the church on Thursday September 22, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. at the Essex Christian Reformed Church 276 Talbot St. S. Essex. Interment will take place at Colchester Memorial Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. those who wish to attend please meet at Gerald A. Smith Funeral Home by 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made by cheque to the Essex Christian Reformed Church or to the Hospice of Windsor & Essex County.
