Every family has one, and Uncle Terry was my “Wild Uncle”.
He was loud, brash, quick to argue, animated, and unapologetic.
But that was just his body armour.
Luckily, many of us got to see the man behind that curtain.
And we saw a dedicated family man who unconditionally loved Aunt Connie and absolutely cherished Heather & Gary and his all grandkids.
When he was in a real conversation with you, you felt he was not only listening to you – but also hearing you. He would ask further questions, and then tilt his head as he processed what he had just learned.
He was not shy to give you a compliment – or a nickname. Oh the nicknames…how did he remember them all?
On more than one occasion I would hear my nickname echo across the University campus as the ETR went by and he was hollering for me (along with other embarrassing comments) from his seat in the caboose – smiling away and letting out his deep laugh.
It was during those years, I was fortunate enough to benefit from generosity that was (and still is) - "The Cullen House: The door is always open and there is a place for you to sleep." I will always be grateful for them for their kindness.
Uncle Terry truly lived life on his own terms – and we could benefit from doing just a little more of that.
This photo is of the men who helped shaped who I have become – and Uncle Terry (in his iconic A’s jacket) is up on my Mount Rushmore of Uncles.
He will be missed.

Condolences to you Connie and family.
Funny story, I was crossing the railway tracks and saw Terry working. So naturally I honked the horn to wave. Terry being Terry didn’t even look up, he just shot me the finger. I laughed all the way home.
He was the first to teach me how to ride as a passenger on his motorcycle. Really enjoyed our rides together.
RIP Terry❤️

Connie, Heather and all the Cullen and Stockwell families.
I had the great joy of having Terry in my life, as a competitor player, a co-coach and competitor coach.
Your obits are spot on, but the memories bring a huge smile. I learned some life lessons thru Terry.
Sorry for your pain - and your loss. I'm sure the memories will help.
Be well. Ron McGuire
