Obituary of João Morujo Sequeira

SEQUEIRA, João Morujo

Passed away peacefully on February 1, 2023 at the age of 86. He was born in 1936 in Montalvão, Portugal. The eldest son of João Sequeira and Joaquina Morujo. Beloved husband of 66 years to Joaquina Mourato Sequeira (Matos). João and Joaquina emigrated to Canada in 1966, living in Jellicoe, Ontario where he worked as a lumberjack. João moved to Essex County in 1967. Residing in the Harrow area, he owned and operated two successful produce farms in addition to retiring in 1997 from SKD after serving 30 years as an inspector. João was a member of the Camões Portuguese Club of Harrow for many years and enjoyed visiting his condominium in The Algarve, Portugal. João is survived by his wife Joaquina, sons Vitor (Maria) Sequeira of Windsor, and Joe (Heide) Sequeira of Bethesda, Maryland. Loving avô of Lisa (Adam) Lucier, Laura (Jeremy) Belanger, Nathan Sequeira, Andrew and Kristin Sequeira and bisavô of Ava, Ellie, and Alex Lucier, Bo, Vera, and Jack Belanger. Dear brother of Victor (Olimpia) Sequeira of Windsor and Maria Joaquina (João Manuel) Domingos of Cascais, Portugal. Visitation will be held at Gerald A. Smith Funeral Home, 197 King St. W. Harrow on Thursday, February 9, 2023 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A service to celebrate João’s life will be held on February 10, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home followed by internment at Colchester Memorial Cemetery.
