Obituary of Edward McConnell

McCONNELL, Edward James Passed away peacefully on August 26 at his home in Harrow at the age of 69. He was born in Windsor, son of the late Jim (1972) and Margaret (Anderson 1985) McConnell. Cherished nephew of Doris Anderson, and predeceased by aunts and uncles Helen and Clarence Macdonald, Eileen and Charles Gordon, and Fred Anderson. Much loved cousin of Margaret Mary McDonnell and family, the late Carol Macdonald, Tom Gordon and family, Doug Gordon and family, the late Charles Gordon, and May Jo (Ben) Sonneveld, and family. Dear friend of Ray and Rosalind Knight and Bob and Cheryll Damphouse. Over the years Ed worked at Windsor Office Supply, the Harrow Legion and Kingsville Golf and Country Club. A sports enthusiast, Ed played baseball and golf and made many special friendships at the KGCC where he had been a member since 1968. He enjoyed his Michigan golf, playing “Ed’s Best 50 Michigan Courses.” He will be lovingly remembered for his quick wit, humour, and kindness, and will be especially missed by his Saturday golf partners Tony, Bob and, Ray. Friends and family will be received at the GERALD A. SMITH FUNERAL HOME 197 King St. W. Harrow on Tuesday September 1st from 7-9 p.m. A celebration of Ed’s life will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday September 2nd at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Frank Staples officiating. Interment at Colchester Memorial Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart &Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of your choice.
