Obituary of Madeline Tearle

96 years. Passed away April 30, 2008. Late of Iler Lodge Essex, formerly of Harrow. Predeceased by her husbands Leslie McDonald (1972) and Thomas Tearle (1988). Stepmother of Hugh and Irma McDonald, Windsor, Jacqueline and Peter Hedgewick, Windsor, Maurice Tearle, BC. Predeceased by her sisters Faye Richardson (1984), Ethel Richardson (1989), Leita, Mrs. James Martin (1990), Mildred, Mrs. Ralph Wright (2000), Helen, Mrs. Charles Hutchins (2005) and her brother Earl and Ina Richardson (1983). Survived by many nieces and nephews. Many in the Harrow area will remember Madeline as Dr. Veales capable receptionist and assistant from 1928 until the practice closed in the 1960s. After that she worked as a first aid nurse at W. Clarke Cannery in Harrow and at Green Giant in Tecumseh. In later years she was activity director and gave supportive nursing care at Iler Lodge in Essex, retiring in 1985. Madeline was an active member of St. Andrews Church in Harrow, both in the choir and the Womens group. She was also an avid supporter of the Cancer Society. Resting at Gerald A. Smith Funeral Home 197 King St. W. Harrow. Visitation on Sunday May 4, 2008 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A service to celebrate Madelines life will be held Monday May 5, 2008 at St. Andrews Anglican Church 210 King St. E. Harrow at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Christine Downey officiating. Interment at Erie Cemetery. Memorials may be made by cheque to St. Andrews Anglican Church, Canadian Cancer Society or CNIB.
