Obituary of Fay O'Hare
Fay A. O'Hare, 84, died of natural causes at the family's cottage on Poplar Bluff in Oxley, on September 17, 2013. Her family has resided there seasonally for 48 years. She is survived by her husband Rolland of Detroit and Oxley, their two children, Allan (Michele) O'Hare of New York City and Heather (Andy) Thomas of Hillsborough, North Carolina, and their grandchild, Brady Thomas.
Ms. O'Hare was very active in civic and educational affairs in the Detroit area throughout her life. Including chairing a commission appointed by the Federal District Court in Detroit to monitor compliance by educational institutions with the orders of federal courts (including the U.S. Supreme Court) in connection with the desegregation of Detroit area schools.
Fay always looked forward to returning to the lakeshore and loved the summers she spent there. Her mother was a native of the Wheatley area, and Fay often enjoyed exploring the shore area and the towns between Colchester and there and the interesting people, places, and local produce she would discover there. She particularly loved the town of Harrow, its surrounding area, and the people who live there.
