Difficult to put into words how the entire flying community is feeling right now. Bob was such a great gentleman and was loved by everyone. Our EAA meetings were always enjoyed when Bob and Bubba entered the room. Will always remember my flight with Bob when we circled the Ameriquest Blimp over Grosse Isle and he talked to their pilot as well as our conversation the whole flight. Bob will certainly be missed at the 401 Hangar. My deepest sympathy goes out to his family and friends. Blue Skies Bob.

Please accept my sympathy for your loss. The Harrow comminity and the Windsor flying community also share in that loss. My first recollection of Bob was my first aircraft ride at age 5 (1965), sitting in Tommy Fawdry's lap, in the back seat of whatever it was that Bob was flying at the time (Taylorcraft?). We took off & landed from a field near Pollards, 3rd concession.

You go, Bobby High Flight by John Gillespie Magee, Jr. Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth, And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings; Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth Of sun-split clouds...and done a hundred things You have not dreamed of...wheeled and soared and swung High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there, I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung My eager craft through footless halls of air. Up, up, the long, delirious burning blue I've topped the windswept heights with easy grace Where never lark, nor even eagle flew. And while with silent, lifting mind I've trod The high untrespassed sanctity of space... ...put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

Mark, Victor, Please accept our sympathy for your loss. We will miss Bob's infectious enthusiasm and the lively discussions we had with him. As fellow T-18 owners we share his love of flight. We are sure he is looking down upon the South Western Ontario scenery he enjoyed so much.

There is a large hole in our Hangar where Bob's "Thorp T-18" was BUT,-there's an even larger hole in our ranks at EAA 185 Inc. where he always attended with his beloved Basset Hound! We certanly are going to miss his joviality, in the way he greeted us,-by name,-on our meeting nights! Bob is truly going to be missed!
