Obituary of Charles Webster

Passed away peacefully at Royal Oak LTC, Kingsville, ON. Reunited with the love of his life, his wife and best friend Virginia (Wright - Jan. 9, 2001), with whom he celebrated 59 years of happily married life. Loving dad of Ginger and Brian Pollard of Harrow, the late Charles Jr. (2008) and Vera of Vermont, Becky and Tim Glidden of Kingsville. Cherished grampa of Tracy and Tim Ferriss (Harrow), Tim and Joanne Pollard (Whistler BC.), Aaron Pollard (Harrow), Bev Mills (Leamington). Adored great-grampa of Spencer and Jordyn Ferriss, Chloe and Kobe Mills. Predeceased by his parents William and Nellie (ONeill) Webster, and his sisters and their husbands Agnes and Ed Riggs, Jean and Milt Page. Dear brother-in-law of Dar Wright, Jenny and Hank Cornwall, Frank and Marilyn Wright. Also remembered by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Chuck was pre-deceased by Virginias parents Joseph D. and Margaret (Craig) Wright, and family Gertrude and Malcolm Cox, Geraldine Sells, John Badali, and Florence Wright. He served his country overseas as a spitfire pilot with the RCAF in WWII. Returning home after the war, he had a varied and successful business career, including store proprietor, clerk of the Town of Harrow and manager of the Harrow Potato Growers Co-operative. Lastly he became a partner in the insurance brokerage, Holmes Webster until his retirement in 1995. Chuck was a very caring person and always put others before himself. He was a passionate volunteer and was always ready to help when called upon. A 64 year member of the Rotary Club of Harrow, a Paul Harris Fellow and past President. In 1953 he organized and chaired the first Meet the Governor Night for the Rotary district and remained the chairman for 56 years; he is affectionately known as Mr. Meet the Governor. A Honourary Life Member and Past President of Kingsville Golf and Country Club, he was very active in both curling and golf. For years, Thursday was the day that many of the Harrow area men played golf in Kingsville. The Harrow Open an annual fun golf tournament was started by Chuck and this group of friends. He chaired this event for 36 years. Other volunteer activities included St. Andrews Anglican Church, Harrow Legion Branch #338, treasurer of the Harrow District High School Board and chairman of the Harrow Arena Fund Raising Committee (HARCC). He was a wonderful husband, father, brother, friend and a true gentleman. He leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion and has given us strength and endless love. Visitation at Gerald A.
