Obituary of Max Calhoun

Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at the grand old age of 90 with family by his side. Late of Kingsville Court Retirement Home. Much-loved husband of the late Margaret (Oates) 1999 and Mabel (Ciphery) 1961. Loving father of Bernard and Judi (Essex), Charles and Delrose Burns (Alberta), Doug and Mary Burns (Guelph), Beth and Dennis Graham (Essex), Janice and Charles Hill (Windsor). Devoted grandfather to Leslie, David, Holly, David, Patricia, Sherry, Mike, Paul, Laura, Lindsey and Lori. Loving great grandfather to 22 great grandchildren. Dear brother of Faye Barnett-Brown (Bill) and the late Viola Salter (Elmer), Gerald (Dora), Ray (Frances). Dear brother-in-law to Jim Oates (Wilma) and the late Dan Oates (Georgette) and Jack Oates (Virginia). Max was an active farmer in Colchester North for many years, a founding member of Gesstwood United Church Camp, a long time member of Harrow United Church and the AOTS Men's Club. Resting at Gerald A. Smith Funeral Home 197 King St. W. Harrow. Visitation Monday March 30, 2009 from 2-5 & 7-9 p.m. AOTS Men's Club service at 4:00 p.m. A service to celebrate Maxs life will be held Tuesday March 31, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Harrow United Church with Rev. David Steadman officiating. Interment at Greenlawn Cemetery, Oldcastle. As an expression of sympathy donations may be made by cheque to the Harrow United Church organ fund in lieu of flowers.
