Obituary of Helen Butler
July 6, 1917 March 7, 2008, at age 90. Formerly of Colchester, Oxley and Harrow, and a recent resident of Richmond Nursing Home in Amherstburg. The Lord blessed Helen by releasing her from her limited life on earth, to finally be wrapped in his eternal arms, and lovingly joined by her best friend and husband, Chuck, who has been waiting patiently for her in heaven, to whom she was a loving wife for 32 years, until his untimely death in 1970. Also, among her many departed family and loved ones, who are welcoming her to heaven, are her mother and father, Fanny and Perry Wright; her sister Evelyn Scott; her niece, Linda Scott McLean, her mother-in-law and father-in-law Hazel and John Butler, her sister and brother-in-law Marie and Bob Meyer, Victor Brown, Sylva and Robert McDonald, Virginia Webster, Gertrude Cox, Dora Mills, Bob Wright, and many others, who Helen cherished throughout her life. She was a loving and devoted mother to her daughter Debbie (Butler) Lindsey; and also Survived by 5 grandchildren, who were the apple of her eye: Rachel Ouellette, Ryan Ouellette, Shana Ouellette, Robbie Lindsey, and Melanie Lindsey; a wonderful sister to Jeanne Brown and Shirley and Lou Brenner; a cherished aunt to Sandra McKee, Jim Brown, Kathy Block, Patty Gillan, Bill Brenner, Joe Brenner, Beverly Brenner, Randy Meyer, Bryan Meyer, Judy Anderson, and John Meyer, and brother-in-law Walter Scott. Helen enjoyed a very rich and full life, and among some of the things she loved were her church, Christ Church Colchester, where she was an active member of the Anglican Church Women for many years. She also delighted in badminton, bowling, curling, playing cards, especially bridge and uchre, swimming, sun tanning, and most of all Helen took great pride helping to run their farm, where she spent many long hours of hard work and devotion. She was also a dedicated employee of Duncans Pro Hardware, in Harrow for many years. Resting at Gerald A. Smith Funeral Home 197 King St. W. Harrow. Visitation Monday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A service to celebrate Helens life will be held on Tuesday March 11, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Church Colchester with Rev. Christine Downey officiating.
