My heart is both broken and full at the same time.... Uncle Hank has been and will always remain in my heart, the man who made me feel like I belonged. no matter where I was, or what I was doing, it was OK to just be me. I remember as a kid just moving back from BC after dad died, and experiencing my first real family reunions. Uncle Hank saw that I was a bit of a lost soul, caught between being a kid, and wanting so badly to be with the grown ups, so... he taught me to be the bartender :) Unfortunately the only drink I remembered how to make was a Bloody Mary, but he must have told everyone not to complain because I remember almost everyone drinking Bloody Mary's that day. He was a man who didn't say an awful lot, but when he did, you had better listen, because he was going to teach you something. Whether it was to pay attention and focus on what you were doing, how to give a proper handshake, or how to speak to a lady. He was patient, thoughtful and kind... and he really liked "to go for a drive", I'm not sure if Sean still remembers the "drive" he took with Uncle Hank, but they were gone for what seemed like 7 or 8 hours, just the two of them, driving in silence, enjoying the view and each others company.... That was Uncle Hank, just enjoying the moment and the people he was with.
Aunt Jenny, Kirby, Kevin and the rest of our family and friends. I am so sorry that I will not be able to be with you, but I want you all to know that I Love you, I miss you and I am grieving with you... I will shed my tears, but more than that, I will focus on the happy memories, the kind words, the strong handshake that "hand in the cookie jar" grin he used to give me, and the best example of what a man should be. I Love you and will miss you Uncle Hank, rest easy, and cheers....
