Dear Ralph, Mahlon and family, We truly have been in shock since hearing the news of your loss. Judy has been a special part of our island community for so long now it is difficult to think of Pelee, and the Coop without her. We appreciate all the efforts she has made over the years in helping us at the Coop and post office. Know that she was loved by many and valued for the kind hearted person she was. Please accept our most sincere sympathy for this untimely loss. Ron and Lynn

Judy carries a place in my heart. Met her in April of 2009 when the co-op was at the Sportsmans Club after the fire. I was a newbie and she let me know the way things worked from the start. I made many mistakes in the when and how to do it, whether is was me taking someone else's bread or milk to the hours the post office operated. Didn't take me long to figure it out.....the option being.....to feel the wrath. Ha!
Over the years, we built a friendship. She actually called me each time I had mail and had a story every time I entered the Co-op. I made sure I never went for gas when it was raining, and that the plants the school overwintered for me were in the best shape so as not to make a mess.
When conversing, my favorite saying to her was "Judy, tell me how you really feel!" She did, that's for sure.
I will miss her. My heart goes out to her family. May she rest in peace.

Going to the Co-op was always an experience with Judy there. I didn’t dare take a bread order that was not mine, or ask her to pump gas in crummy weather, or try to pick up a parcel without having the Canada Post card - otherwise I would be told exactly how she felt and where I was to go.
Everyone has a “Judy at the Co-op” story and I will miss writing her into our Annual School Christmas Concerts – she were a favourite of mine.
Behind that no non-sense exterior was a woman who loved to show off her colourfully painted nails and who cared deeply for the four men in her life. Mahlon was mentioned quite often and in proud grandma fashion she would share her latest Mason & Nolan updates.
Ralph was her true love and over the years I would be at the Co-op counter and Judy would look out the window, and excitedly say, “Oh, here comes Ralph.” (always with a smile). Often Ralph didn’t buy anything...I think he just came to visit her.
Thank you Judy for calling to remind me of my milk order, or giving me a reduced rate on old produce, or opening the Co-op on a Sunday because I needed something urgent for my kids…and for all the other little things you did for me…I’m sure you did the same for many others, but you made me feel like I was special and the only one.
We could use a little more Judy in all of us!
The Island will miss you.

Our school flag flies at half mast today for Judy. She was our custodian and emergency supply teacher. Judy always made the staff laugh with her no-filter honesty and the students enjoyed it when she taught them.
Our thoughts are with her family and friends during this difficult time.
Her pink crocs will be remembered fondly.
