Bob Jacques was my section head when I was a bench scientist working in Harrow for Agriculture Canada. He was a dedicated hard working public servant who very much enjoyed his chosen career and provided great leadership to scientists that worked with him. He made many significant contributions to science and Canadian Agriculture. I am pleased he had such a long and fruitful life. RIP Bob….Gary Whitfield

I’m very sorry to hear that Bob has died. I worked as his research technician for 25 years. He was a pioneer in the biological control of numerous problem insect species. We made a good team and his work was ground breaking. I was always impressed by his sharp mind and his drive to add to science knowledge. He was very supportive of my career and after he retired I never had the opportunity to work for anyone else of his calibre. I remember he once told me that his father had told him the sun always shines at least once every Sunday. He helped me to be the best version of myself and I will never forget him.

To the Jaques & Tobin Families,
I am so sadden to hear of Bob’s passing. He was such a great man, truly a kind soul. I had the pleasure of meeting Bob at my family business in Windsor (DeMarco’s) where he would often frequent. I enjoyed our conversations throughout the years, and having the opportunity to get to know him. I will miss him telling me to “never get old” and his friendly smile every time he walked in the door. He was truly one of a kind. May he Rest in Eternal Peace.

Heidi, I am very saddened to hear of Bob’s passing. He has been in my thoughts just lately and now I know why. Sadly, I won’t be able to pay my respects in person but want you to know that I will be thinking of you and the family during this sad time. Bob was a very dedicated scientist and I remember his manuscripts as my first initiation to the words I will never forget to spell, Bacillus thuringiensis. He was a stickler for perfection in all matters of science and my profound respect goes out to him for his contributions. I remember the visits to the Harrow Fair and our conversations fondly. I will miss him. Hold your memories close to your heart and stay strong.
