Our thoughts & prayers are with the Burns and Martin families. I went to high school with Jared and will always remember his kindness. My father in law spoke with Jared Saturday before his passing while at work at Vollmer and spoke highly of Jared remarking "what a nice guy". His life was too short but he certainly made an impact on those who were fortunate to know him.

On behalf of the Essex Firemen's Association, comprised of Essex Fire Station 1 active and retired firefighters, we send our deepest condolences to Jared's family on his untimely passing. Our members are saddened by his sudden passing and our thoughts and prayers remain with Jared's family during the days, weeks and months ahead.
Our members stand with our fellow firefighters at Station 3 along with Jared's fellow recruit class as they mourn a close friend and colleague. When one hurts, we all hurt. We will mourn together and are here for each other during this difficult time.

I met Jared as part of our recruit class with Essex Fire. He was quick to smile and laugh and fun to be around. That said, when it came to training, he was all business and took it very seriously. He was so proud to be an Essex firefighter. But that paled in comparison to the pride and love he felt for his wife and daughters. Whenever we would meet he would always tell me about the latest trip with his family, or one of the many things his daughters were up to. Always with a smile on his face. It was a privilege to serve with and know him, and he will be missed by all of his fellow firefighters.
Rest easy, Brother. We'll take it from here.
