Obituary of Roy Grant

April 18, 1923 to July 11, 2011 at Royal Oak, Kingsville. Formerly of Harrow. Cherished husband of Pearl (Jenner) Grant, a partnership of love, devotion and companionship for 65 years. Son of Wesley (1965) and Dorothy (Sample 1924), stepson of Katherine Grant (1963). Loving father of Joann (Bryan Meyer), Jacqueline (Ken Maitre) and Melissa (Manuel Cordeiro). Devoted Pip to Tara (Heidi), Rebecca (Keith), Lana. Bryanne (Henry), Erica (Dave), Amy, Michael, Sheri and three great grandchildren Ethan, Nolan and Zoe. After the untimely death of his mother, he was raised by a wonderful mother, Josephine Hubbell and her husband, Florin until her death. After which, he was cared for by her children Ted (Helen) McLean, Sylvia (J.W.) Edwards, Bill (Amy) McLean, and Mame (Fred) Herniman as their brother. All of whom but Helen have predeceased him. Their care was something he appreciated all of his life. He'll also be remembered with love by the descendants of Stanley and Mina Jenner. Like many World War II Vets, he continued to serve his community. He was deputy chief of the volunteer Harrow and Colchester South Fire Department, a councillor and mayor for the town of Harrow, a member of Kinsmen, the R.C.L.B #338 Harrow and the board of St. Andrew's Church all while building a successful business as a shoe merchant and cobbler. He was honored as Harrow Citizen of The Year in 1979. Most of all, he will be remembered as a humble man who modeled integrity. Thanks to Dr. Tawil, ICU Leamington Hospital, and Royal Oak for their compassionate care. Resting at Gerald A. Smith Funeral Home 197 King St. W. Harrow. Visitation on Wednesday 7-9 p.m. and Thursday 2-5 & 7-9 p.m. R.C.L.B #338 Harrow service Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. A Service to Celebrate Roys life will be held on Friday July 15, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Andrews Anglican Church 210 King ST.
