To the Salter family, Gwen was a very special individual. When I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009, Gwen reached out to me to encourage me in my battle. Her thoughtfulness and words of encouragement will always be remembered. With deepest sympathy, Susan Whelan

I was so happy to see Gwen at the family reunion this summer. Even though she was in obvious pain, she was as cheery and optimistic as she had been throughout her long ordeal, always thinking of others, always interested in others. I know she meant a great deal to many people. Raphalle and I will miss her dearly.

Gwen went on many Delta Kappa Gamma adventures and I am happy to have shared some of those with her. She loved talking proudly of her family and friends. She loved telling us of special or new recipes. She was always happy. What a great way she lived her life while she was healthy and what a courageous way she lived her life after experiencing poor health. She was an admirable role model for all of us. Thanks, Gwen for your friendship.

I worked with Gwen whe I was a young Speech-Language Pathologist. We shared many of the same students. She was so warm and welcoming to me. I will always remember her kind words and smile. She made my first job much easier. As the years progressed we met up many times in many different roles. Her genuine kindness and friendship were always very special. I know she touched many lives in a very big way.

I met Gwen in Belleville in 1969 when we were training to become Teachers of the Deaf, and have been fortunate to have called her my friend ever since. Although distance prevented our seeing each other often, we did get together every year or two. I shall treasure those times. Gwen was a genuinely warm and kind person, and will be missed by all who knew her. She made a positive difference in so many lives. My heartfelt sympathy to her family. Lillian Lundin

Gwen, as we ALL know was a lady with a heart of gold. New to the neighbour hood, she always came with "treats" ranging from tickets to the turkey supper while under construction, to home made goodies. She treated our boys like they were part of her family too, and did all those special things a grandmother would do. She made them their special blanket with a GOD spot which is the nightly "tucking in" with. As my younger son said, when we told him, I get to still LOVE Gwen, in my heart. Blaine and I along with the boys send out our hugs(as we all know Gwen loved those) to you. Champeau's x o xo x o
