I keep humming the tune for Danny Boy and remembering the sad but brightly inspiring words spoken at Cindy's celebration. It leaves a sense of how remarkable she was to kickstart you all to speak so eloquently from the heart. As you are proud of her, she too would be immensely proud of you all. Although we would much rather she was still here with you, you have comforted us and we hope that you will be comforted also, again and again, as you live with her memory.

I'm very saddened by the tragic death of Cindy earlier this week, and wish to send my sincere condolences to her family. I first met Cindy in 1998 when I began working in the Geology & Geophysics Department office at the U of C. We enjoyed many pleasant chats during the next few years, often about her children, and also about our common interest in figure skating. My contact with Cindy since she went to work in industry a few years ago has been through skating: she was an adult skater at the Calgary Winter Club, and I occasionally judged her at test days or in competitions. The last time we met was in late April, when I judged her at a test day and at the CWC club competition. I was greatly impressed at how her skill level had improved in just a few years, through her focused hard work and determination. Cindys enjoyment of the sport was evident in her enthusiasm - she truly "glowed" and seemed very happy!

To all who know Cindy, I am shocked and incredibly saddened by the passing of Cindy. In the dental profession ,we get to know our patients so well and in Dr. Martin's practice, we value her family immensely. I had the pleasure of knowing Cindy as a client in our dental office as her personal hygienist and I will miss her dearly as a regular patient of mine and know all of her family well and can appreciate the tremendous loss. Cindy had a wonderful zest and love for life and she made sure the girls were first and foremost and that they looked after their teeth for sure as she did herself.. She was in their lives 100% and some. It does not surprise me that Cindy would think nothing of helping another in need because that is who she was. My thoughts are with her friends and family particularly her splendid girls and how they must cope and adjust....I am so saddened. The girls must know how much she loved them and may that give them strength to face the future and make their mother proud. Sincerely, Mona Troyer

We are heartbroken for the loved ones in Cindy's life. There are no words to express the ache and emptiness that is felt by all who knew her. Our love goes out to Erin and Megan, and all the other family and friends. Our prayers are with you all.

I met Cindy in the mid-90s when she started her research at UofC. Of course we talked geological 'shop', but almost invariably our conversations turned to our kids although (or maybe because?) Megan and Erin are a bit younger than mine. With our girls we shared memorable departmental Christmas parties at Regina's house. Among Cindy's qualities I admired her intense energy toward anything she did, she committed to her tasks fully. I am very sorry to see her go so early.
